Submit data
How to submit data using Delta.
Bulk upload
The data team at MHCLG may have recommended you upload in bulk using Excel. This is an easier way to submit a large amount of data. See submit data in bulk.
Find the data collection
Sign in to Delta. You will see any open collections you need to submit data for.
Select ‘view collection’.
You will see a page for the collection.
At the bottom of the page, you will see all the returns your organisation has submitted. To start a new record, select ‘Add’.
Submit data
Enter your data into the form. Save it regularly, as you will be automatically signed out if you are inactive for 15 minutes. If it is taking too long to save, you may have been signed out. Your form will be automatically saved every 10 minutes. You can save a form as a draft and complete it later.
Once you have entered your data select ‘Submit’ or, if your collection needs certifying, ‘Submit for certification’.
You will not be able to submit a form if Delta can find errors in it. If this is the case, correct all errors before you submit your form.
Edit data
Go to the collections page and select the record you want to edit. On the record page, you can select ‘edit record’.
You can edit saved or submitted records during the collection period. You cannot edit data after the submission deadline.
Data certifiers
You may not be able to certify a form that you have saved or submitted. Check the guidance you have been given for your collection.
Users that provide data for multiple organisations
You only have one user account for Delta even if you submit data for multiple organisations.
Using the data store
Select a dataset using the filter on the right-hand side, then select ‘Download CSV’. You will only be able to select this button if a dataset has been selected using the filter. You can only download one dataset at a time.
If the dataset covers more than one collection period, for example all four quarters of a reporting year, you may get multiple CSV files. Use the filters to select a single collection period (instance).
You may get a message warning you that the data may contain uncertified data. This message may show even if certification is not required on the data. Select yes to continue.
Multiple record returns
For some collections, more than one record can be provided by a single organisation. The Title column gives you specific information for each record for a collection instance. This allows you to identify a specific return that may require editing and re-submitting.
